Harriet Hoult has become a regular visitor to the Fine Art Solutions studios over the last couple of years. An abstract artist, based in London, the style of her work is fascinating to see and work with. Often featuring a variety of bright colours and heavy textures, capturing the feel of these originals is a challenging process, but one that gives a fantastic reproduction when achieved. The thick paint marks, string and other coarse fabrics create an incredibly tactile result. When balanced with her use of bold colours, Harriet manages to craft a incredibly delicate feel within her artworks.
To view her work in person, Harriet has two exhibitions starting this week:
Hampstead Affordable Art Fair, Hampstead Heath, 11th-14th May 2017. Artdog London, Stand H9.
and
Wimbledon Open Studios, Riverside Road, SW17 0BB 11th-14th May 2017
Alternatively, for those unable to visit these exhibitions, Harriet keeps both her website and Instagram regularly updated with her work and exhibitions as well as the option to purchase prints and originals.
In her own words, Harriet takes an instinctive approach to her work. She works mainly with acrylic on paper and also uses collage, oil pastels and watercolour.
“I tend not to plan. I have an image in my head as a starting point and I make some marks in the direction of that original idea. Then I feel my way to what the next set of marks will be. It’s a moment-by-moment evolving process. I am inspired by the everyday, often random things that I see and experience in the world around me; the way the light makes a particular shape on a wall, a radio interview with someone I admire, a tree stump in the park. My work is my interpretation of these experiences onto paper. I am fascinated by aesthetics and exploring the visual interplay between form, space and colour.”
